Qualification Pathways

Choose the route that suits you best

There are three ways to take the Cambridge International Certificate/Diploma in Teaching and Learning.

Certificate

Certificate Course

For full- or part-time teachers employed in an educational institution such as a school, college, university, or adult training centre.

Eligibility
Teach in the current school for a full academic year, for a minimum of 24 weeks and six hours per week, with responsibility for planning, teaching, and formative assessment.
Structure
Module 1: Exploring learning and teaching, including Units 1, 2, and 3.

Diploma

Diploma Course

For candidates who have already completed the Certificate Course and want to continue into the diploma pathway.

Eligibility
Completion of the Certificate Course before starting the Diploma Course.
Structure
Module 2: Teaching and learning in action, and Module 3: Developing professional practice.
Duration
6 Months
Direct Diploma

Direct Diploma Course

For eligible candidates who want to enter the diploma route directly through a crash course of Module 1 followed by Modules 2 and 3.

Eligibility
Any Cambridge PDQ, or two years teaching experience with B.Ed, QTS, PGCE, QTLS, DET, or equivalent, or five years teaching experience with any required entry assessments.
Structure
Crash Course of Module 1 plus Module 2 and Module 3.
Duration
8 Months

Qualification Structure

Module 1 can be taken on its own as the Certificate.

Candidates can continue to the Diploma, or take the Direct Diploma if the eligibility condition is fulfilled.

Language Requirements

English competence for participation.

Candidates are required to have sufficient competence in English to participate in the qualification. Candidates should have English language competence comparable to Level B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Alternatively, candidates can speak directly to the Programme Leader to confirm whether they qualify for the entry requirements.

Assessment Criteria

How each portfolio is assessed.

Candidates are graded for each module against four criteria, applied to the portfolio of evidence as a whole.

A completed ePortfolio of evidence

Each candidate develops an ePortfolio that demonstrates their learning and professional practice. Edu Lead provides guidance throughout its development, reviews the completed evidence, and submits it to Cambridge for assessment.
